Quote of the Week
Daughter your faith has healed. Go in peace.

2nd Sunday of Moses
21st October 2018

The idea of ritual:
This 2nd Sunday of Moses’s prayers, invites us to reflect on the attention of the Lord, and his care for us. He is our doctor and our Savior, the Healer of all pain and sufferings, so we should open our heart for Him to dwell in.

Readings:
1st Reading/Isa 40: 18- 28
Please sit and listen to the prophecy of Isaiah: Barikh-Mar.
To whom can you liken God? With what likeness can you confront him? An idol? An artisan casts it, the smith plates it with gold, fits it with silver chains. Is mulberry wood the offering? A skilled artisan picks out a wood that will not rot, seeks to set up for himself an idol that will not totter. Do you not know? Have you not heard? Was it not told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the founding of the earth? The one who is enthroned above the vault of the earth, its inhabitants like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a veil and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in, who brings princes to nought and makes the rulers of the earth as nothing. Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown, scarcely their stem rooted in the earth, when he breathes upon them and they wither, and the storm wind carries them away like straw. To whom can you liken me as an equal? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see who created* these: He leads out their army and numbers them, calling them all by name. By his great might and the strength of his power not one of them is missing! Why, O Jacob, do you say, and declare, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and my right is disregarded by my God”? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is God from of old, creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary, and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny. Amen.

2nd Reading / Gal 5:1-6
A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to Galatians: Barikh-Mar.
For freedom Christ set us free; so, stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery. It is I, Paul, who am telling you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you. Once again, I declare to every man who has himself circumcised that he is bound to observe the entire law. You are separated from Christ, you who are trying to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we await the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision count for anything, but only faith working through love.
The grace and peace be with you all brothers.

Gospel Reading/ Lk 8: 43-48
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St Luke.
And a woman afflicted with haemorrhages for twelve years, who [had spent her whole livelihood on doctors and] was unable to be cured by anyone, came up behind him and touched the tassel on his cloak. Immediately her bleeding stopped. Jesus then asked, “Who touched me?” While all were denying it, Peter said, “Master, the crowds are pushing and pressing in upon you.” But Jesus said, “Someone has touched me; for I know that power has gone out from me.” When the woman realized that she had not escaped notice, she came forward trembling. Falling down before him, she explained in the presence of all the people why she had touched him and how she had been healed immediately. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Priest: Glory be to God forever. PP: Glory be to Christ Our Lord.

Prayers of the Faithful
Let us all stand with joy and ask with confidence, saying,
O Lord, have mercy on us.
O Lord, the danger of death threatened the sick woman. Her request was answered, and she was healed by you. We, too, often risk the danger of sickness and death so we pray to you to protect us from all dangers. Have mercy on us.
O Lord, only one woman was healed among all this crowd gathered around you. Just how she touched your garment, we often come to the church and pray but nothing changes in us. In order for our prayer to be the energy of our lives, we ask you to be the change in our lives. Have mercy on us.
In this month we honor Mary the queen of rosary: O Lord, to realize the role of your mother in your message and her position with you. We pray that she helps us in the path of salvation. Have mercy on us.
